  1. 2012 Tuition rate increased by 4.0 percent for students enrolled at the Greensburg and other Pitt campuses was approved by University of Pittsburgh trustees. The increase was said to be due to recent budget cuts, and Chancellor Nordenberg adds that “In constructing this budget... we believe that we have struck the balance that best positions Pitt to maintain its remarkable record of achievement and impact.”

  3. PA State Representative, Mike Resse, is coming to Pitt-Greensburg on September 19th, 2011 to talk to students and the public about education issues and other related topics. This event, taking place at 5pm in Village Hall 118, is sponsored by the Pitt-Greensburg Student Pennsylvania State Education Association and is free and open to the public.

  5. The University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg will be holding the crowning of the 2011 Homecoming Court on Sat, Oct. 1, as part of the Blue and Gold Weekend celebration.

    The crowning will take place at 1 p.m. on Chambers Lawn. All students, alumni, and family are welcome to attend the festivity. The event will be followed by the Blue and Gold Ball at 8 p.m. for all current students at the Blue Moon Barn in Greensburg, PA.

  6. Dean of the Duquesne Law School, and author, Kenneth Gormley will be at Pitt- Greensburg on September 27th to give an apolitical look at the Kenneth Star/ Bill Clinton story. This event will take place at 7 p.m. in the Mary Lou Campana Chapel and Lecture building and is free and open to the public.

  7. “Exploring the "F" Word: What is Feminism?” on September at 15 7:00 p.m. is the first event for this year’s La Cultura themed: "Feminism in a Global Context."
    This panel discussion will include proponents as well as opponents to the idea of feminism.

  8. Much stigma surrounds the "F word". On Thursday September 15, from 7:00 -8:30 p.m., students and faculty are invited to attend a discussion of this word - Feminism, in Campana Chapel.
    The discussion, whose theme is"feminism in a global context", will include a brief history of feminism and a panel of feminists and non-feminists. Sheila Confer can be contacted for more information at sec10@pitt.edu.

  9. The University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg is showing Hangover Part 2 on Friday September 9th in the Chapel. The movie starts at 9:30 p.m. and is free to students. They are welcome to come and watch the sequel to the best comedy of 2009 for no charge. The Chapel is located towards the entrance of the campus and can hold only a certain amount of people. If by any chance you cannot make it to the movie on Friday, it will also be showing on Tuesday September 13th at the same place and time.

  10. The 8th Annual Graduate and Professional School Fair will be held on October 6, 2011 from 10 am to 1 pm in the Chambers Hall Gymnasium.

    This year 21 schools will be in attendence to give information on their programs to Pitt-Greensburg students who will be graduating in the near future.

  11. Registration for the Fall Arts Trip to Cleveland, taking place on October 6 through 9, begins at 8 a.m. on Thursday September 8 in FOB Room 230.

    The trip, which costs $115, includes visits to the Cleveland Museum of Art, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Cleveland Symphony, Lakeview Cemetery, and more. Interested students can visit the sponsoring Pitt-Greensburg Visual Arts Society's Facebook page for more information.

  12. Pitt-Greensburg will host the first Blue & Gold 5k on campus, October 1. Registration begins at 7 a.m. with an 8 a.m. start. The event will be presented by UPMC Health plan and all proceeds will benefit the Pitt-Greensburg Alumni Association and the Alpha Alpha Delta Chapter of the Sigma Tau Delta English Honor Society. All are welcome to participate.

  13. Pitt-Greensburg will be holding its annual activities fair this Tuesday, September 6, 2011 on Chambers Lawn. Students interested in showcasing their involvement with the school should stop by between 10 am and 2 pm.

  14. Anthony Williams was chosen by athletic Director Tony Berich as the new baseball coach of Pitt Greensburg. This was announced on August 11, 2011 and was long awaited after the previous head coach took another job at Waynesburg University.

    The Coffeehouse is gearing up to start a new season of open mic nights, and will begin kicking out the jams Monday, September 19 at 9:00pm. Bringing your own acoustic instrument is required, and all styles of music are welcomed. This will be a weekly event that all students are invited to attend on Monday nights.
